This week, the CPRLV hosted the Centre d’Aide et de Prise en charge de toute personne concernée par les Extrémismes et Radicalismes Violents (CAPREV) from Belgium. CAPREV’s mission is to provide a telephone support service for all those who are faced with situations of concern or who have questions about their surroundings in Belgium.
The employees of the CPRLV therefore discussed with the Director, Mr. Philippe Massay, and the Director of Research, Ms. Alice Jaspart, of CAPREV, on their different approaches to preventing radicalization leading to violence.
In addition, Mr. Massay and Ms. Jaspart participated in various working sessions offered by the Education and Skills Development Team at the CPRLV. This allowed them to better understand this complex phenomenon in the Quebec context, and to recognize it people’s behaviours, in order to then learn about consistent and appropriate ways of addressing it.
Also, the CPRLV is proud to have partnered with the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies (MIGS) to organize a talk in which CAPREV presented its approach, its work methodology and the issues faced in terms of preventing radicalization leading to violence. Very interesting discussions followed with the participants of the event.
Thank you CAPREV for your visit to Montreal!
