Following the progress made in Quebec and elsewhere to ensure women’s full participation in decision-making in the public sphere and to build a more equal society, movements associated with the manosphere have emerged and intensified over the past few years.
These movements, such as the “involuntary celibates” or Incels, are online communities where men discuss their difficulties with women and can sometimes lead some to commit hate-motivated acts.
Their claims? Many want a return to traditional values, question the place of women in society and reject the ideal of the model proposed by Western societies, particularly gender equality.
Prevention is everyone’s responsibility, we must avoid women from becoming victims of hate-motivated acts because of their gender and to guarantee a secure future where their rights are no longer violated!
Whether you are the target or witness of online hate speech, please contact the Info-Radical Helpline and we will respond to your specific needs through our community support.
