IDEOLOGICAL DIMENSIONS OF EXTREMISM

Extremism may take diverse forms depending on the context and time period, and may be associated with different causes or ideologies.

Economic Dimensions
Refers to concerns about the exploitation or protection of nature and humans and about the distribution or monopolization of wealth.
Religious and Spiritual Dimensions
Concerns the mobilization of religious, spiritual, supernatural or esoteric elements (practices, beliefs, rituals, acts) in relation to the sociopolitical order.
Ethnonational Dimensions
Refers to the claimed belonging to a community (real or imagined) defined according to ethnic, national or linguistic criteria or racialization processes.
Dimensions Related to Gender and Sexuality
Concerns issues related to identities, roles, expressions of gender or sexuality.
Dimensions Related to Authority and Individual Autonomy 
Refers to concerns about individual freedoms or autonomy in the context of individual-state relations. These concerns include all state interventions, including authoritarian or antiauthoritarian tendencies.
